Chen Chi-ming: Founder of the Flamma Association Date:2012/2/3

The study of cosmic energy is a valuable resource, and a branch of study that would take millennia to exhaust. Researchers into this field are well aware that one can only tap into this resource if one has a still mind, for the reason that it is not something that can be controlled through human consciousness. People are merely transmitters and interpreters of this natural power.

Every type of essence originates in the original universal essence that resonates with material substance on the Earth, thereby producing energy frequencies. Within the universe there is an infinite amount of this energy, and an infinite amount of room for it to exist. In order to harness this positive energy on behalf of the world, Nature, or human beings, the person who extract it needs to possess some form of link to the universal essence. The fundamental principle that underlies this process is known to physics as resonance, and to Buddhism as correspondence, or “yoga”. Your mind will be able to resonate on the same level as this energy, as the energy between people, between people and flowers, between people and nature, and in fact everything, all resonate according to the same principles.

Master Chen Chi-ming, founder of the Flamma Association, has many years’ experience in studying Buddhism, Zen, the practice of qi energy, the Book of Changes (yi ching), Chinese medicine, acupuncture, and herbology. Having turned to the study of the medicine of living energy, he was set on the course of researching essence energy. Even as a child, living in the mountains, Master Chi-ming had a profound connection with flora. When anyone fell ill, or became injured, in the mountains, they had to use what was at hand, and relied on the wisdom and knowledge of their ancestors, as well as their understanding of how the human body worked. They would select the appropriate natural substances to treat the problem. It was this ability to treat illnesses and injury through an understanding of Nature that would form the foundation of Master Chi-ming’s treatments later on. In addition, he has a natural gift for understanding the nuances of the natural essence energy inherent in things, and how they can be used to treat people and alter their microcosmic magnetic field.

Nantou county is surrounded on all sides by mountains, and Master Chi-ming was born in the country here, with the river valley to one side, and the mountains of Chichi behind. As such, he was always amongst nature, and developed a profound affinity with the plants and trees, feeling at one with nature from an early age. For him, the plants and trees, birds, insects, and stones, and even the mountains and constellations, were living repositories of essence energy. If they were used properly, their healing properties could be exploited.

Early on, armed with a knowledge of the principles of traditional Chinese medicine, the “eight extra channels of the human body”, and yin-yang and five elements theory, among others, Master Chi-ming set up a Chinese medicine practice, in which he researched the effects of different herbs. He employed the five elements theory in treating his patients, based on the natural elements metal, wood, water, fire, and earth. Often, during the consultations, his patients would feel their aches and pains abate on the spot. The way he was able to use herbal medicine, one would suspect the spirits themselves were inspiring him: he would prescribe different herbal treatments according to the nature of his patients’ ailments, all with specific directions on how to prepare the herbs for ingestion, and suggest times to take the herbal brew according to the individual’s lifestyle. Their ailment would often be cured in only two or three doses. For many years, Master Chi-ming treated his patients with a combination of physical treatments, such as meridian massage and tuina massage, as well as essence energy treatments, using crystals, minerals, herbs and five elements theory.

The human body is an extremely complex mechanism, and the organs within it will produce, as they perform their functions, wave frequencies. There is a continuous flow of energy between cells, amongst the viscera, and even between the individual themselves and the environment around them.

Cells not only form the various organ systems within the body, they are also responsible for the electro-magnetic field that surrounds the person. When the body’s energy frequencies are unbalanced, this can be taken as a sign of an imbalance of the individual’s spirit. We can thus detect the cause of a physical or psychological disorder. When we know the cause of the illness, we can prescribe the appropriate treatment.

In traditional Chinese medicine one talks of meridians, an integrated system of energy channels within the body that connect the various viscera with each other throughout the body. In the past many people considered these meridians to be abstract in nature, lacking a physical reality that could be touched or seen. They also held the very concept of meridians to be unscientific, and found it difficult to believe in their existence at all. This all changed in the 1975 when a German physician, Dr. Reinhold Voll, invented the electro-dermal screening device (EDSD). Voll would apply the needle, which carried a small electric charge, lightly to various points on the skin, discovering measurable movements of energy transmission along the meridians. His discovery led to more research into what was known as bioenergetic medicine.

Thanks to this piece of equipment, it was finally possible to determine scientifically whether an individual’s energy vibrations were balanced or not. By measuring the acupuncture points on a person’s skin we can diagnose the state of health of the viscera, and find out whether their energy is in a state of balance or not. Not only this, but we can investigate the energy frequencies related to the origins of the patient’s illness, aiding us in prescribing the most effective treatment. Once Master Chi-ming had found out about this instrument he was able to demonstrate that he himself had the power to alter the nature of energy. With the help of the device he could diagnose the fluctuations in the seven emotions known to Chinese medicine, as well as problems resulting from imbalances in the central meridian and seven chakras of yoga, and confirm that there was a positive relationship between these and the rise and decline of people’s health. With this discovery he decided to embark on research into holistic medicine, and the balance of mind and body.
